CES 2015 - Robots

Client: Mercedes-Benz

Parent Agency: Oliver Schrott Kommunikation GmbH

Goal: To create a compelling narrative around Mercedes-Benz’s CES and F015 concept car using 3D animation and CGI characters.

Challenge

The challenge lay in conceptualizing and creating contrasting 3D animated robot characters to complement the technological sophistication of the F015. This narrative was aimed to offer an engaging, whimsical addition to the keynote speech delivered by then Mercedes-Benz CEO, Dieter Zetsche.

Role and Responsibilities

Sean was a vital part of the creative team, his role entailed:

  • Concept Art and Storyboarding
  • 3D Animation and CGI Design
  • Environment Design for 3D Visualization

Strategy

The approach was multi-faceted. It began with designing various robot characters that showcased advanced CGI techniques. After extensive iterations, we settled on two contrasting robot personalities: one highly detailed and futuristic, resembling a Transformer, and another smaller, cartoonish figure with a cheeky demeanor.

Tools and Technologies

  • Techniques: 3D Animation, CGI Design
  • Environment: 3D Visualization of robots and the event backdrop
  • Software: Tools relevant to 3D animation and CGI were employed

Results

The campaign effectively captured the audience’s attention, adding a playful dimension to an otherwise technical presentation. It showcased our robust capabilities in 3D animation and CGI, delivering a memorable experience that resonated with both the client and the audience.
